Consano Bio, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapeutics for painful orthopedic conditions, has raised more than $15 million in an oversubscribed financing to advance its lead investigational therapy, C-1101. The financing exceeded the company’s $15 million target and was subscribed by a syndicate of accredited private investors.
The company plans to use the proceeds to complete its ongoing randomized, double-blind Phase 1 clinical trial of C-1101 and continue development of the therapy, including work on its scientific foundation, intellectual property portfolio and additional assets. Consano Bio said clinical data from the program are expected in the first half of 2027.
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in the Greater Boston area, Consano Bio develops biologic therapies for painful and debilitating orthopedic conditions. Its lead program, C-1101, is being developed for chronic painful lumbosacral radiculopathy, commonly known as chronic sciatica.
C-1101 is a purified multi-protein biologic derived from human platelets in plasma from healthy donors. The investigational therapy is administered through an epidural injection and is designed to modulate inflammation and promote localized cellular and tissue repair.
The company received US Food and Drug Administration clearance for its Investigational New Drug application for C-1101 in July 2026, allowing its Phase 1 program to expand to US clinical sites. The FDA subsequently granted C-1101 Fast Track Designation in August 2026.
Including the latest financing, Consano Bio said it has raised more than $45 million since its inception.
