hexafarms has raised €4.8 million in seed funding to develop its crop sensing and scouting technology and expand across key European horticulture markets.

Berlin-based agritech startup hexafarms has raised €4.8 million in a seed funding round co-led by Ananda Impact Ventures and Green Generation Fund. Grey Silo Ventures and better ventures participated alongside existing investors Speedinvest, Mudcake and Techstars.

hexafarms was founded by David Ahmed, Felix Kirschstein and Huijo Kim. The company develops technology for commercial horticulture that combines proprietary sensing hardware, cameras and software using AI and computer vision. Its platform supports crop monitoring, yield forecasting and pest and disease detection for growers. LinkedIn

The company plans to use the new capital to further develop its wireless crop sensing and automated pest and disease scouting capabilities, while expanding its commercial presence across the DACH region, Benelux and Spain. AgNavigator.com

At the time of the funding announcement, hexafarms said its technology was being used by more than 50 growers across 13 countries. Its systems combine environmental and crop data with AI models designed to help growers monitor growing conditions and make production decisions.
