Overlord Labs GENESIS battery intelligence chip technology for wearables and edge AI devices.
San Jose-based Overlord Labs raised a $4.35 million Seed extension led by Band of Angels, bringing total funding to $10 million across Seed financing and non-dilutive development capital.

Overlord Labs, a San Jose, California-based fabless semiconductor company, has raised $4.35 million in a Seed extension led by Band of Angels. Foothill Ventures, Unlock Pacific Ventures, NuFund Venture Group, Sand Hill Angels and Castle Fund participated in the financing, alongside returning strategic angel investors.

The extension brings Overlord Labs’ total funding to $10 million. According to the company, the total comprises $7.25 million in Seed financing, with the remainder consisting of non-dilutive strategic development funding.

Founded in 2025, Overlord Labs is led by co-founder and CEO Richard Nicholson and co-founder and COO Carlos Rodriguez. The company develops semiconductor technology for battery management, with its GENESIS Battery Intelligence platform designed to combine sensing, programmable processing, firmware and battery models within the chip.

The company’s first GENESIS device is designed for single-cell battery systems and is initially targeting applications including wearables, smart glasses, hearables and other battery-powered edge AI devices. Overlord Labs said it has moved from tape-out into product validation after bringing up working silicon and is preparing for customer sampling.

Overlord Labs plans to use the new capital to complete validation and qualification, support customer sampling and Tier-1 OEM engagements, expand its firmware and battery-algorithm capabilities, and build production infrastructure. The company is targeting volume production in the first half of 2027.
