Laki Power, an Icelandic grid-monitoring technology company, has raised €6 million in a Series A round led by the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF), with participation from existing shareholder ReykVC. The financing, announced on September 17, 2026, represents NIF’s first investment in Iceland.
Founded in Reykjavík in 2015 by Óskar Valtýsson and Ósvaldur Knudsen, Laki Power develops self-powered monitoring systems for high-voltage transmission lines. Its line-mounted systems combine cameras, weather and line sensors, onboard computing and satellite communications, with power drawn directly from the transmission line.
The company’s LKX-MULTI platform is designed to give grid operators real-time information on conditions including ice buildup, wildfire risk and transmission-line capacity. Laki Power says its patented power-harvesting technology can provide up to 300 watts directly from high-voltage lines. The company has deployments with grid operators including Landsnet in Iceland, Statnett in Norway and Hydro-Québec in Canada.
Laki Power plans to use the Series A capital to scale manufacturing, expand deployments of LKX-MULTI across Europe, North America and Australia, and accelerate development and distribution of its LKX-DRONE platform. LKX-DRONE is being developed to allow drones to recharge along power-line corridors for applications including grid inspection, wildfire response and infrastructure security.
ReykVC first invested in Laki Power in 2023 and has continued its backing through the Series A round.
