Multiply Labs robotic biomanufacturing system designed to automate production of advanced therapies.
San Francisco-based Multiply Labs raised a $75 million Series B led by NantWorks, bringing its total capital raised to more than $100 million.

Multiply Labs, a San Francisco-based robotics company focused on biomanufacturing, has raised $75 million in Series B funding led by Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong with NantWorks. The round included AstraZeneca Ventures, Lingotto, Legend Biotech, Fifty Years Ventures, Ora Global, Teradyne Ventures, Strange Ventures, Casdin Capital, Lux Capital and Founders Fund.

Founded in 2016 by Fred Parietti and Alice Melocchi, Multiply Labs has now raised more than $100 million in total capital. Parietti serves as co-founder and CEO, while Melocchi is co-founder and chief scientific officer.

Multiply Labs develops robotic manufacturing systems for advanced biologic medicines. Its robotic clusters are designed to automate manufacturing processes across cell and gene therapies, antibodies, viral vectors and mRNA therapies. The systems integrate biotechnology equipment with robotics and software, while allowing pharmaceutical companies to own and operate the manufacturing infrastructure within their facilities.

The company’s systems have been deployed with pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca and Legend Biotech. Multiply Labs plans to use the new financing to scale robot production and commercial deployments as it expands its manufacturing platform across advanced biologics.
