San Francisco-based consumer health startup Metabolize has raised $3.2 million in seed funding led by Astanor, with participation from Maia Ventures, LongGame Ventures and SOSV.

The company plans to use the funding to commercialize its Precision Metabolite Technology, advance product development and validation, and expand manufacturing capabilities ahead of its first consumer product launch.

Founded in 2024 by Dr. Morris Laster and Gideon Meir, Metabolize develops non-prescription metabolic health products based on research originating at Stanford Medicine. Its technology focuses on naturally occurring compounds involved in biological processes associated with metabolism and appetite regulation.

The scientific foundation of the company’s platform draws on research led by Dr. Jonathan Long, an associate professor of pathology at Stanford Medicine. Metabolize has secured an exclusive license to research originating at the university to support its product development activities.

Metabolize is preparing to introduce its first consumer product, NATLEAN, in January 2027. The product is designed for individuals transitioning off GLP-1 therapies, with the intended purpose of supporting appetite regulation, reducing food-related cravings and helping maintain weight over the longer term.

NATLEAN will be the first planned commercial application of the company’s Precision Metabolite Technology. Metabolize is also developing additional products within its metabolic health portfolio.

The seed investment will support preparations for NATLEAN’s planned launch, including further product validation and manufacturing development, as the company moves toward commercializing its research-based consumer health technology.
