Causa Prima, a Madrid-headquartered fintech startup developing AI-powered financial operations software, announced a $20 million seed funding round on October 13, 2026. The round was led by Base10 Partners, with participation from QED Investors and FJ Labs, alongside existing investors Creandum, Kfund and Borusan Ventures. The financing closed in September 2026.
The investment follows a $10 million pre-seed round announced in June 2026, bringing Causa Prima’s total funding to $30 million. The earlier round was led by Creandum and supported the company’s initial development of its AI-based business finance network.
Founded in 2026 by Maex Ament, Henrik Gebbing and Philip Stanislaus, Causa Prima develops an agent-to-agent platform designed to automate financial interactions between businesses. The company operates from Madrid and Munich, focusing on workflows involving accounts payable, accounts receivable and business-to-business payments.
Its platform connects buyers and suppliers through a shared network where AI agents can communicate directly to manage invoice approvals, reconcile discrepancies, resolve payment disputes and negotiate payment terms. The system also supports dynamic discounting, allowing companies to negotiate discounts in exchange for earlier payments.
Causa Prima is developing these capabilities to reduce manual coordination between finance teams, particularly when invoices, payment approvals or disputes require information from multiple organisations. The platform is intended to give businesses greater visibility into incoming and outgoing payments and help manage working capital.
The company plans to use the new capital to develop its platform further and expand into the United States, including plans to establish an office in New York.
