Rainmaker Technology Corporation, an El Segundo, California-based cloud-seeding startup, has raised $100 million in Series B funding. The round included investments from NOA VC, Upfront Ventures, DCVC, Lowercarbon Capital and Dream Ventures. Rainmaker did not name a lead investor for the round.
The company plans to use the new capital to expand its atmospheric research organization and further develop its weather-modification technology. Rainmaker said the funding will support hiring across atmospheric science, radar and satellite research and materials science, while also supporting research at US national laboratories and universities.
Founded in 2023 by Augustus Doricko, Rainmaker develops technology designed to increase precipitation through cloud seeding. Its system combines purpose-built unmanned aircraft, weather forecasting software, radar and satellite data to identify suitable conditions, deploy seeding agents and measure precipitation following operations.
Rainmaker currently operates in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, California and Colorado and plans to expand across the American West and internationally. The company has also conducted research operations in Alaska, where it has been testing its drone platform and precipitation-validation methods.
The Series B follows Rainmaker’s $25 million Series A in May 2025, which was led by Lowercarbon Capital. The company previously announced a $6.3 million seed round in May 2024.
