Teal Health has raised $22 million in Series A funding led by .406 Ventures, with participation from Emerson Collective, managed by Yosemite, Forerunner, Serena Ventures and Japan-based MPower Partners. The financing brings the San Francisco-based company’s total funding to $45 million.

Founded in 2020 by Kara Egan and Dr. Avnesh Thakor, Teal Health develops at-home cervical cancer screening services. Egan serves as CEO and co-founder, while Thakor is also a co-founder.

Its core product, the Teal Wand, is an FDA-authorized device that allows patients to self-collect vaginal specimens at home for use with an approved HPV molecular assay. Teal Health pairs the collection device with telehealth services, secure delivery of results and connections to follow-up care where needed. The US Food and Drug Administration granted De Novo authorization for the Teal Wand in May 2025.

Teal Health expanded its service to all 50 US states in January 2026.

The company said it will use the Series A capital to expand partnerships with payors, health systems, employers, healthcare providers and brands, as well as broaden direct-purchase options for individuals and organizations. The funding will also support hiring across clinical, commercial, technology and operational functions.
