Klang, a Helsingborg-based conversation AI startup, has raised SEK 15 million, approximately €1.32 million, in new funding. The round was led by entrepreneur and technology investor Johan Lenander, with Emil Sjödin, co-founder and CEO of Refined, and Daniel Gadd, co-founder and CEO of Position Green, among the participants. Existing shareholders also backed the financing, which was announced at a stated valuation of SEK 150 million.
Founded in 2023 by Niklas Silfverström, Viktor Silfverström, Andreas Argelius, Mattias Fält and Jacob Andersson, Klang develops AI technology for transcribing, summarising, analysing and searching conversations including meetings and interviews. The company is headquartered in Helsingborg and says its technology is developed and operated in Sweden with models designed for European data-protection requirements.
Klang plans to use the new capital for AI research and product development, international expansion and recruitment. Its near-term expansion plans cover the Nordics, Benelux, the DACH region and Japan, while the company expects to recruit around 10 people across research, development and marketing. Klang also said its recurring revenue had more than doubled to SEK 20 million.
The financing comes alongside the release of Pianissimo, Klang’s open-weight speech-recognition model for Swedish. Pianissimo is a roughly 600-million-parameter fine-tune of Nvidia’s Parakeet v3 and is released under the CC BY 4.0 licence. Klang’s published evaluation reports bulk throughput of 2,500 times real time on an Nvidia A100, compared with 39 times for KB-Whisper Large in the same evaluation, while KB-Whisper Large recorded the lower word error rate. The model weights are available for deployment on users’ own infrastructure.
