Enterprise AI startup Promenaut has reached $8.9 million in total funding, including a strategic investment from HSBC, which has also become a design partner.

Promenaut has disclosed $8.9 million in total funding to date, including a strategic investment from HSBC, alongside the public launch of its enterprise agentic workforce platform. The size of HSBC’s individual investment was not disclosed. HSBC has also joined the company as a design partner.

Founded in 2025, Promenaut is led by CEO and co-founder Stephen Murphy. The company develops technology for regulated enterprises that coordinates people and AI agents within governed workflows. Its platform provides permission controls, human approval mechanisms, audit trails and traceability across AI-enabled processes.

Promenaut’s platform is already in production at HSBC across selected workflows, including business case evaluation and pre-coding stages of the software development lifecycle. As part of the relationship, David Rice, HSBC’s Chief AI Officer, will join Promenaut’s board.

The platform is model-agnostic and designed to operate across cloud environments, allowing enterprises to orchestrate specialised AI agents while retaining human oversight and governance. Promenaut is focused particularly on regulated industries including financial services, insurance, capital markets and the public sector.
