Avarra has raised $17 million in a Series A funding round led by Duration Ventures, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Draper Associates, GTMfund and Alumni Ventures. Zoom also made a strategic investment in the round.

Founded in 2023 and headquartered in San Mateo, California, Avarra is led by co-founder and CEO David Knight. The company develops an AI avatar platform for go-to-market teams, designed to capture sales expertise and company playbooks and deploy that knowledge through AI avatars across training, coaching and customer-facing workflows.

Avarra’s platform can be used to prepare sales representatives before calls, run simulated customer conversations and coaching sessions, support teams during active deals, and interact with prospective buyers. The company has expanded its product beyond its original sales-training simulation offering into a broader avatar platform for go-to-market organizations.

Avarra said its annual recurring revenue grew more than 400% year over year ahead of the Series A. The company lists Elastic, Masimo, Proofpoint, Netskope and Owner.com among its customers.

The new capital will support engineering and go-to-market hiring, as well as further development of the customer-facing capabilities of the platform.

Avarra previously announced an $8 million seed round in October 2024 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from GTMfund, Firsthand Alliance and other investors.
