San Francisco-based Mistlabs announced $26 million in Pre-A funding led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin Technology. The investment will support the development of its Ambi ambient AI platform and dedicated wearable hardware.

Mistlabs, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup, announced $26 million in Pre-A funding led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin Technology on October 12, 2026. The company plans to use the funding to develop a standalone AI wearable that will extend the capabilities of its Ambi ambient intelligence platform.

Co-founded and led by CEO Peter Mo, a former executive at AI recording company Plaud, Mistlabs develops technology designed to provide real-time assistance based on a user’s conversations, activities and ongoing tasks.

Its flagship product, Ambi, is a cross-device AI system that uses contextual information to provide recommendations, maintain memory and support task execution. The platform is designed to work across Apple devices, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and MacBook.

Ambi can process information from ongoing conversations and meetings to help users research topics, prepare documents and identify follow-up actions. Its Routines feature supports recurring tasks, while contextual memory allows users to continue work across devices without repeatedly providing the same information.

Alongside the funding announcement, Mistlabs introduced Ambi’s transition out of beta. The company also outlined plans to develop agent-to-agent communication, enabling separate Ambi systems to exchange relevant information and coordinate tasks on behalf of their users.

The planned capability would allow AI agents to identify common priorities and support negotiations during meetings, subject to user-granted permissions.

Mistlabs is also developing dedicated wearable hardware to capture additional contextual information beyond existing smartphones, computers and smartwatches. The proposed device would extend Ambi’s software capabilities into a standalone AI product.
