OSCP, a Montréal-based developer of photonic inertial navigation sensors, has closed an undisclosed Series A financing led by New Science Ventures, with participation from Emerging Ventures and 2050 Capital. Somu Subramaniam, founder and managing partner of New Science Ventures, has joined the company’s board of directors.
Led by founder and CEO Kazem Zandi, OSCP designs and manufactures photonic gyroscopes and inertial measurement units (IMUs) for systems that need to continue navigating when Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals are jammed, spoofed or unavailable. The company is based in Montréal and develops its sensors for applications including defence, aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems and industrial platforms.
OSCP plans to use the Series A funding to expand production in Montréal, grow its engineering and sales teams, and bring its next generation of photonic inertial sensors to market.
The company previously announced $1.2 million in seed funding from 7percent Ventures and 2050 Capital. That financing supplemented $4.2 million in grants from Canadian government and innovation programmes supporting the development and commercialisation of its sensor technology.
