Physical Superintelligence (PSI), a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based AI-native physics startup, has raised $58 million in seed funding led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures. The round included Dragon Global, Robot Ventures, Solari, Susa, SV Angel and Valkyrie, along with Balaji Srinivasan and Anthony Scaramucci. PSI also listed individual investors affiliated with OpenAI, NVIDIA, SoftBank Energy, Oracle, Hugging Face, JUMP Capital and the a16z Scout Fund.
PSI was launched by Matt Pines, Alex Klokus and Dr. Alexander Wissner-Gross. The company is developing AI systems designed to accelerate physics research by generating models, breaking complex scientific problems into verifiable hypotheses and testing them through simulation.
Its core platform, Emmy, uses AI-based virtual physicists alongside a reasoning engine and a curated collection of simulations. PSI is initially productizing part of the platform for terrestrial and orbital data center optimization, including problems involving power, cooling, networking and compute infrastructure.
The company said the seed capital will support recruitment, continued development of Emmy’s models, simulation and verification infrastructure, and research across areas connecting energy and computing.
