Toronto-based Sprout Family has secured CAD$3.55 million in seed funding led by BDC Thrive Venture Fund. The company will expand its family benefits platform into pregnancy, postpartum care, parental leave and return-to-work support.

Toronto-based healthtech startup Sprout Family has raised CAD$3.55 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by BDC Thrive Venture Fund. The round also included participation from Accelia Capital, MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund, StandUp Ventures and The51.

Founded in 2023 by Jackie Hanson and Suzanne Mason, Sprout Family provides a digital health and employee benefits platform focused on fertility, family-building and parental support in Canada.

The company works with employers, insurance providers and benefits advisors to help employees access reproductive healthcare services and navigate different stages of building a family. Its platform offers personalized guidance, virtual consultations with specialists, access to fertility care providers and financial support through employer-sponsored benefits.

Sprout Family supports several family-building pathways, including fertility preservation, in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI), adoption and surrogacy. The platform also provides employers with tools to administer benefits and coordinate employee support.

The company plans to use the seed funding to expand its services beyond fertility and family-building into pregnancy, postpartum care, parental leave and the transition back to work. The investment will also support team expansion and additional partnerships across Canada’s insurance and employee benefits industry.

Sprout Family said the number of employees with access to its platform has increased elevenfold. Its employer network includes Canadian companies such as Wealthsimple, EllisDon and Lazer Technologies.

The financing follows a CAD$1.7 million pre-seed round announced in March 2025. That earlier round was led by StandUp Ventures, with participation from Blue Collective, MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund, The51 and Boon Fund.

The latest funding will support Sprout Family’s development of a broader employee benefits platform covering family-building, parental leave and the return to work.
