Morphotonics, a Veldhoven, Netherlands-based developer of large-area nanoimprint lithography platforms, has closed an expanded Series B financing round of more than €40 million. Existing investors 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries and BOM continued their backing, while Invest-NL joined as a major new investor. The European Innovation Council Fund, Ernij Next and the European Investment Bank also participated.
The financing includes different forms of capital. The European Investment Bank said it provided Morphotonics with a €20 million convertible loan supported by the InvestEU programme, while Invest-NL disclosed a €5 million investment as part of the round.
Founded in 2014, Morphotonics develops manufacturing platforms that use nanoimprint lithography to reproduce micro- and nanoscale structures across large surfaces. Its process presses patterns into a liquid resin coating using a mould and cures the material with UV light. The technology is designed for manufacturing optical components including augmented reality waveguides, advanced displays and photonic systems. Morphotonics is led by CEO Hugo da Silva, with co-founders Jan Matthijs ter Meulen serving as CTO and Bram Titulaer as CDO.
Morphotonics plans to use the financing to increase production capacity for its Cypris platform, advance product development, expand its engineering, commercial and customer-support teams, strengthen supplier and manufacturing networks, and build after-sales infrastructure. The company works with device and component manufacturers in China, Taiwan, the United States and Europe and has been expanding a lab-to-fab partner network for customers developing nanoimprint production processes.
The financing expands a Series B process that Morphotonics began in September 2024, when it announced a first closing of more than $10 million. That earlier closing was co-led by BOM and Innovation Industries, with 3M joining as a new investor.
