Capacity, a St. Louis-based support automation software company, has raised more than $54 million in Series E funding, bringing its total capital raised to more than $159 million. Capacity identified entrepreneur Kathy Ireland as a lead investor in the round.

Founded in 2017 by David Karandish and Chris Sims, Capacity develops an AI-powered platform designed to automate and support customer interactions across multiple channels. The company is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

The platform combines omnichannel AI agents, real-time agent assistance, automated quality assurance, conversational intelligence and outbound customer engagement tools through a shared knowledge orchestration layer. Capacity says more than 20,000 organizations use its technology.

Capacity plans to use the new capital to accelerate research and development across its platform, including further investment in AI agents, automation and enterprise knowledge orchestration. It also plans to expand its go-to-market and customer success teams, develop strategic partnerships and integrations, and support international expansion.
