H2SITE has secured €3.4 million (NOK 39.1 million) in funding from Norwegian state enterprise Enova for HydraNord Power, a project focused on developing and validating a commercial-scale onboard ammonia-to-power system for the maritime sector.
HydraNord Power will use H2SITE’s membrane reactor technology to convert ammonia into high-purity hydrogen directly onboard vessels. The planned system is designed to produce up to one tonne of hydrogen per day and supply maritime fuel cells delivering 700 kW of net electrical power.
The project is intended to move the company’s onboard ammonia cracking technology toward commercial maritime deployment. H2SITE develops hydrogen production and separation systems based on integrated membrane reactors, including solutions for ammonia cracking and hydrogen recovery. The company is headquartered in Loiu, Spain.
H2SITE was incorporated in 2019 and originated as a spin-off from research work involving TECNALIA and Eindhoven University of Technology. Its official team page lists Andrés Galnares, José Antonio Medrano, Jon Meléndez and Gorka Hermoso as founders.
The Enova-backed project follows H2SITE’s Series B financing, which reached more than €42 million after a second closing announced in June 2026. That financing was aimed at expanding manufacturing capacity and supporting large-scale industrial deployment of the company’s hydrogen production and separation technologies.
