Helsinki-based direct-to-consumer furniture company KHOY Company has raised €2 million in growth funding. The round was led by Finnish private equity investor Virta Equity, with participation from Innovestor and several angel investors.
Founded in 2022 by Visa Friström, András Kelemen and Jukka Salmikukka, KHOY develops, manufactures and sells furniture directly to consumers online. The company is best known for sofa beds that are vacuum-packed into compact cardboard boxes for delivery and expand to full size after being unpacked at the customer’s home.
KHOY plans to use the new capital to expand its operations across its existing markets in the European Union, Switzerland and the UK, accelerate its US expansion, and further develop its product portfolio, brand and operations.
The company launched its first sofa bed in June 2024 and reported €4.3 million in revenue for 2025, representing 13-fold growth from the previous year. KHOY said more than 80% of its sales come from outside Finland, with Germany and France among its largest international markets.
The business previously operated under the KOTA name before adopting the KHOY brand in 2026. The company said the rebrand retained the same team and ownership while reflecting its international expansion plans. Its sofa bed also received a Red Dot Design Award for Product Design in 2026.
