Marel Power Solutions, a Plymouth, Michigan-based power electronics company, has received a $1.9 million grant through the Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program to support pilot-scale manufacturing of its power stack platform. The company announced the award on September 18, 2026.
The funding will be used to purchase equipment for a pilot production line in Plymouth, initially focused on electric vehicle applications. Marel is one of 11 Michigan automotive suppliers selected to share $21 million through the state-administered program.
Marel develops modular power modules and power stacks used in high-power inverters and converters that manage energy conversion between direct and alternating current. Its platform is designed for applications including EV traction inverters, onboard chargers, battery disconnect systems and charging infrastructure. The company is also targeting power-conversion applications in defense and data centers.
Founded in 2019, Marel Power Solutions is headquartered in Plymouth and is led by CEO Amrit Vivekanand. The company describes its core technology as a combination of semiconductor packaging and thermal management designed to produce compact, configurable power-conversion systems.
The Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program is administered by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Domestic Automotive Manufacturing Conversion Grant program. The program provides capital to small and medium-sized automotive manufacturers retooling production for electric, hybrid and fuel-cell vehicle supply chains.
