Sonilo, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup developing generative audio technology for video content, has raised $11 million in a funding round led by B Capital, with participation from Redpoint.
The funding, announced on October 8, 2026, will support the expansion of Sonilo’s AI model infrastructure, including additional computing capacity for training and scaling its generative audio systems. The company also plans to expand distribution through creator and developer platforms and strengthen its music licensing operations.
Founded in 2026, Sonilo is led by CEO and co-founder Shawn Song, who previously worked on multimodal AI technology at TikTok. Its leadership team includes CTO Alex Yin, COO Keli Li and CMO Trista Taylor, bringing experience across AI research, music operations and consumer technology products.
Sonilo develops AI technology that generates music and sound effects based on the visual content of videos. Its core system, called the Sound World Model, combines video understanding with audio generation to produce soundtracks that align with a video’s movements, pacing, emotional context and scene transitions.
The platform allows users to upload video footage, provide text instructions or combine both inputs to generate audio for their content. Its technology is designed for short-form video creators, filmmakers, AI video development platforms and enterprise production teams.
Beyond soundtrack generation, Sonilo provides tools for automated sound effects and AI dubbing with lip synchronization, supporting multilingual video localization.
The company is building integrations with creative technology platforms, including TapNow and ComfyUI, to make its audio generation tools accessible within existing video production workflows.
Music licensing is another component of Sonilo’s operations. Shutterstock is among its licensing partners, and Sonilo says its AI models are trained using licensed music, with compensation arrangements for participating rights holders.
The new financing will support further development of Sonilo’s multimodal audio models and its efforts to distribute generative audio technology across consumer, developer and enterprise applications.
