Firehawk Defense, a Dallas, Texas-based defense technology company specializing in rocket propulsion and energetic materials, has raised more than $150 million in an oversubscribed Series D funding round co-led by Advent and Rochefort Asset Management.
The financing valued the company at more than $1.4 billion on a post-money basis. Additional investments came from new and existing investors and strategic partners.
Founded in 2019 by Will Edwards, Steve Edwards, and Ronald Jones, Firehawk Defense develops and manufactures propellants, solid rocket motors, and propulsion components for military applications. Will Edwards serves as the company’s CEO.
The company’s manufacturing platform uses a continuous thermoplastic process to produce solid propellant material in hours rather than the weeks typically associated with conventional production methods. The material can subsequently be formed into application-specific propellant grains using manufacturing techniques including compression molding, extrusion, and 3D printing.
Firehawk plans to use the new capital to expand its propulsion manufacturing infrastructure, including its facility in Lawton, Oklahoma, and rocket integration operations in Crawford, Mississippi.
The investment will also support increased production of artillery motors, solid rocket motors, energetic materials, and propellants, alongside additional research and development facilities and workforce expansion.
The company operates its Great Plains Arsenal manufacturing site in Oklahoma, a rocket integration facility in Mississippi, and research and testing locations in West Texas.
Firehawk has also established a teaming arrangement with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems to support production of propulsion components for 155mm artillery systems.
In August 2026, Firehawk completed a live-fire test involving six Hydra-70 rockets at Yuma Proving Ground following a US Army Other Transaction Authority award. All six rockets were successfully tested, according to the company.
Rochefort Asset Management had previously provided Firehawk with senior secured financing in April 2026 to support its production expansion.
