Adaptyv raised a $40 million Series A led by Highland Europe, with ACE Ventures, byFounders and Y Combinator participating, as it expands automated wet-lab infrastructure for protein engineering.

The Lausanne biotechnology company plans to expand its automated protein-validation infrastructure, grow its Swiss team and open a laboratory and office in London in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Adaptyv has raised $40 million in Series A funding led by Highland Europe, with existing investors ACE Ventures, byFounders and Y Combinator also participating in the round.

The Lausanne-area biotechnology company announced the financing on August 25, 2026. Adaptyv said it will use the capital to expand its automated wet-lab infrastructure, double its team in Lausanne and open a new office and laboratory in London in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Adaptyv operates an automated laboratory platform for experimental validation of designed proteins. Researchers can submit protein sequences digitally through its platform or API, after which Adaptyv produces and tests the proteins and returns structured experimental data. Its currently advertised services include binding, expression and thermostability testing.

The company positions the laboratory as infrastructure for AI-assisted protein engineering, where computational systems can generate candidate proteins and use experimental results to inform subsequent designs.

Adaptyv recently worked with Anthropic on a protein-design benchmark involving Claude models. According to an Adaptyv case study published August 20, Anthropic used Claude in Claude Science to design protein binders against multiple targets, while Adaptyv carried out the physical synthesis and binding experiments. The company reported that 354 of 1,320 designs bound their intended targets.

That experiment did not itself demonstrate a fully autonomous closed experimental loop. Adaptyv described it as an open-loop experiment and said the next step is to connect experimental results back into subsequent agent-selected design rounds.

Adaptyv says its laboratory throughput increased by more than fivefold over the past year and that it has onboarded more than 100 customers, including AI-focused biology companies Chai Discovery and Boltz and pharmaceutical groups Roche and Novo Nordisk. These operating figures and customer relationships are company-reported.

The company currently identifies Julian Englert as CEO and Daniel Nakhaee-Zadeh as CTO. Y Combinator lists Adaptyv as an active Summer 2021 company based in Lausanne.

Before the Series A, Adaptyv raised an $8 million seed round led by ACE Ventures in 2025. Earlier institutional reporting records a CHF2.5 million pre-seed round in February 2022 led by Wingman Ventures.
