adsilico, a Leeds-based medical technology company developing AI-powered medical device simulation tools, raised £10 million in a Series A funding round led by PXN Ventures. Existing investors Northern Gritstone and Parkwalk also participated in the round, announced on October 26, 2026.
Founded in 2024 as a University of Leeds spinout, adsilico was established by Sheena Macpherson, Dr Nishant Ravikumar, Dr Zeike Taylor and Professor Alejandro Frangi. Macpherson serves as CEO, while Ravikumar leads virtual population development and Taylor oversees simulations. The company is headquartered at Nexus, the University of Leeds’ innovation hub.
adsilico develops simulation technology that enables medical device manufacturers to evaluate implant performance across synthetic patient populations. Its Virtual Chimera platform combines generative AI and physics-based modelling to create virtual representations of hearts and blood vessels using anonymised clinical imaging data.
The technology allows manufacturers to examine how devices such as heart valves and stents may perform across different anatomical and demographic characteristics, including age, sex, ethnicity, body size and disease conditions. These simulations provide additional evidence to inform device design, sizing and patient selection before manufacturers proceed with further development and clinical testing.
The new funding will support the expansion of adsilico’s technology beyond cardiovascular applications into neurovascular devices, including flow diverters used in the treatment of brain aneurysms.
The company also plans to expand its workforce from 14 to 34 employees. It has previously completed projects involving heart valve and neurovascular devices.
Before this Series A, adsilico secured £3.5 million in seed funding in February 2024 from Northern Gritstone and Parkwalk. Both investors returned to participate in the latest financing.
