Arcee AI has raised a Series B led by Vista Equity Partners, Cambium Capital Management and Emergence Capital, valuing the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup at more than $1 billion. Arcee did not disclose the size of the financing, but Fortune reported that a source familiar with the round said it was at least $150 million. AI10 Ventures, Hitachi Ventures, IAG Capital Partners, M12, Prosperity7 Ventures and Wipro also participated.
Founded in 2023 by Mark McQuade, Brian Benedict and Jacob Solawetz, Arcee AI develops open-weight foundation models and tools that allow organizations to deploy and operate AI models across cloud, on-premise and edge environments. Its Trinity model family includes Trinity Large, a sparse Mixture-of-Experts model with about 400 billion total parameters and 13 billion active parameters per token.
Arcee said the new financing will support development of the next generation of its Trinity models, expansion of its work with the US Department of Energy and national laboratories, and new products for customizing, deploying and operating open models.
The company is also working with the Department of Energy on Genesis-Science-1, an open-weight model for scientific research being developed under the Genesis Mission. The project is intended to combine an AI model with a governed execution system for scientific computing workflows.
Arcee previously announced a $24 million Series A led by Emergence Capital in July 2024.
