Amsterdam-based developer infrastructure startup Boxd has raised €2 million in pre-seed funding led by BlueYard Capital. Antler, OVNI Capital, S20 Fund and Script Capital also participated in the round, alongside a group of angel investors with developer infrastructure experience.
Boxd was founded by Hidde Kehrer, Laurentiu Ciobanu and Michiel Voortman. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam and develops cloud infrastructure for software developers and AI coding agents.
The platform provides remote, hardware-isolated Linux virtual machines that developers and software agents can use to write, execute and test code. Boxd says its environments can be created in under 10 milliseconds, accessed through SSH from standard development tools, and forked from a running virtual machine, including its active state, in under a second. The infrastructure can also be self-hosted on KVM-based systems.
Boxd plans to use the financing to improve virtual machine boot and fork performance, expand its self-service platform and develop a self-hosted offering for companies that want to run the infrastructure within their own environments.
