General Compute, a San Francisco-based AI inference infrastructure startup, has raised $100 million in Series A funding co-led by Blackbird and Abstract.

The round also saw participation from Fuse Venture Partners, Village Global, Bold Capital, QED Investors, 645 Ventures, Carbide Ventures, Uncorrelated Fund, Endeavor Catalyst, Icehouse Ventures, MatterScale, Carya, Plug and Play, and other investors.

Founded in 2025 by Finn Puklowski and Jason Goodison, General Compute provides cloud infrastructure that enables AI companies to access GPUs and specialized inference processors without purchasing or operating the hardware themselves. Puklowski serves as CEO, while Goodison is CTO.

The company’s platform combines GPUs with purpose-built AI inference chips from manufacturers including Cerebras, SambaNova and Positron AI. It enables customers to allocate different stages of AI workloads to suitable processors, with access available through dedicated hardware or contracts specifying token-generation throughput.

General Compute finances and deploys its hardware in colocation data centers, managing the supporting infrastructure, including networking, cooling, power and software.

The company plans to bring its first major deployments online in the first quarter of 2027. It has reported a development pipeline exceeding 50 megawatts of computing capacity.

The Series A follows a $15 million seed round announced in May 2026. In July, General Compute also secured a debt financing facility of up to $400 million from Upper90 to support the acquisition and deployment of specialized AI hardware. The facility initially provided for $100 million in financing, with additional capacity tied to customer demand.

TechCrunch reported that the latest financing valued General Compute at approximately $800 million on a post-money basis.

The new funding will support the expansion of the company’s inference cloud and its planned deployment of computing infrastructure across multiple chip architectures.
