Copenhagen-based AI transcription company Good Tape has raised DKK 4.5 million, approximately €600,000, in funding led by Nordic Makers. The investment formed part of a management buyout in which Good Tape’s founders acquired the ownership stake held by Danish media company Zetland, making Good Tape an independent company.

Alexander Aghassipour, co-founder and former Chief Product Officer of Zendesk and a partner at Nordic Makers, led the investment for the firm and has joined Good Tape’s board.

Founded in 2022, Good Tape originated as an internal tool at Zetland before developing into a standalone AI transcription business. The company is led by co-founders Lasse Finderup, CEO, and Ýmir Gyðuson Gíslason, CTO.

Good Tape provides AI-powered audio transcription for professionals including journalists and researchers. Its platform supports more than 100 languages and includes transcription, speaker identification, AI summaries, mobile recording, transcript editing and other workflow tools. The company says customer files are processed on EU-based infrastructure and are not used to train AI models.

Nordic Makers said Good Tape has processed more than 15 million transcriptions, reached 3 million users and is used across more than 150 countries.

Alongside the ownership change, Good Tape has launched Explore, a product layer that connects recordings with a user’s existing transcript archive. Explore can surface related passages, changing positions and supporting or contradictory information while linking findings back to the underlying recordings.
