Utah-based Sunshine Buns has secured $7 million in Series A funding to increase production, expand its retail presence and develop new products. The funding follows its nationwide Target rollout and expansion into Costco warehouses in Southern California.

Sunshine Buns, an Orem, Utah-based frozen bakery brand, has raised $7 million in Series A funding to expand production and support its growing retail distribution across the United States. The company announced the funding on October 27, 2026, alongside the rollout of its products at participating Target stores nationwide.

The company plans to use the investment to increase manufacturing output and inventory as it enters additional retail locations. The funding will also support marketing initiatives, new product development and team expansion.

Founded in 2022 by Chrisi Hammer, Matt Hammer, Kass Martin and Brian Martin, Sunshine Buns began by selling freshly baked cinnamon rolls to customers in Utah before expanding into frozen packaged foods. The business is built around a family recipe passed down from Chrisi Hammer’s mother, known as Mema.

Sunshine Buns produces fully baked, individually wrapped frozen cinnamon rolls designed to be heated in a microwave in approximately 45 seconds. Its core product range includes Original with Cream Cheese Frosting, Cookies & Cream, and Strawberries & Cream. According to the company, its buns contain eight grams of protein per serving.

The company’s retail expansion includes participating Target stores nationwide and Costco warehouses in Southern California. Its products are also distributed through regional grocery retailers, including Hy-Vee, United Supermarkets, Harmons, New Seasons Market, Gelson’s and Bristol Farms.

Sunshine Buns also refreshed its packaging in 2026, introducing updated designs highlighting its family-recipe origins and product characteristics.

The company said it plans to expand into another national grocery retailer later in 2026, with the new funding intended to support production, inventory and operations as its distribution network grows.
