Torch Systems, a California-based outdoor asset intelligence startup, has raised $11.5 million in financing, comprising $9.5 million in equity funding and $2 million in venture debt. The equity financing came from Khosla Ventures, Abstract, Construct Capital and Starship Ventures, while First Citizens Innovation Banking provided the venture debt. Construct Capital said it co-led the round alongside the other equity investors.
The Lafayette-based company develops a monitoring platform for utilities and other operators managing distributed outdoor infrastructure. Its system combines solar-powered sensing hardware, software and AI to detect conditions including fires, equipment faults, vegetation growth, security risks and environmental changes. Torch’s hardware incorporates visible and infrared cameras, microphones, gas and air-quality sensors, with connectivity through cellular, satellite or local radio networks.
Torch lists CEO Vasya Tremsin and CTO Anton Tremsin as its founding team. The company initially focused on outdoor fire detection before expanding its technology into broader monitoring of utility, renewable energy and critical infrastructure assets.
Torch plans to use the new capital to increase manufacturing and deployment of its TerraNode sensing devices, expand its go-to-market and field operations teams, and continue developing the Torch Intelligence Platform.
