Nearhuman, a Bristol-based micromobility safety technology startup, has raised £350,000 in pre-seed funding led by SFC Capital. The company said the funding will support the development and deployment of its on-device safety technology for shared e-scooter and e-bike fleets.
Founded in 2024 by Faizan Mir, Nearhuman operates from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory ecosystem. Mir serves as founder and CEO, while the company develops hardware and software systems combining computer vision, embedded technology and AI for micromobility applications.
Nearhuman’s retrofit camera module runs computer vision processing on the vehicle itself. The system is designed to detect pavement riding, close calls with pedestrians and road hazards in real time. Video footage is processed and redacted on-device, reducing the need for sensitive footage to leave the vehicle while providing safety data to fleet operators.
The company is running a live pilot in Bristol to test the technology in real-world conditions. Nearhuman said the new capital will be used for product development, on-street testing and commercial deployment.
