LightSprint, a San Francisco-based startup developing an AI-powered collaborative software development platform, raised $6.1 million in a seed funding round led by 645 Ventures.

The round included participation from January Capital, Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, Fjor, Sterling Road, Transpose Platform Management, Batch Ventures, Founders Capital and Seraph Group. Angel investors included Kaz Nejatian, Eli Brown and Henri Stern.

Founded in 2026 by Ben Ong, Benedict Chan and Heng Hong Lee, LightSprint provides a cloud-based platform that enables product managers, designers, operations teams and other non-engineering employees to participate directly in software development.

The company participated in Y Combinator’s Spring 2026 batch. Ong serves as co-founder and CEO, bringing previous experience in AI product development and venture capital. Chan previously held engineering leadership positions at BitGo and Chainlink, while Lee worked on Facebook Messenger and held engineering roles at Fazz.

LightSprint’s platform connects to an organisation’s existing codebase and allows team members to describe software changes using natural language. AI agents then generate development plans, execute coding tasks and create working previews for review.

The platform supports collaborative planning, parallel cloud-based coding agents, automated testing and pull-request workflows. Engineering teams retain authority to review and approve changes before they are merged into the production codebase.

According to the company, LightSprint has supported thousands of pull requests submitted by non-engineering users since its launch. Its software is designed to reduce handoffs between product, design and engineering teams while maintaining existing development controls.

LightSprint plans to use the seed funding to expand its enterprise-focused product capabilities and strengthen its engineering and go-to-market teams.
