Reliable Robotics, a US-based developer of autonomous aircraft systems, has secured $115 million in additional financing, expanding its previously announced $160 million Series D round to $275 million and taking its valuation above $1 billion.
The new financing comprises $90 million in equity and a $25 million term loan from Silicon Valley Bank. Returning investor Nimble Partners led the equity financing, with new investors including Gideon Capital, RockCreek, Geek Ventures, Gold Hill Capital and Sparkwave Capital. Existing investor Island Green Partners also participated, while Allen & Company supported the fundraising process.
Founded in 2017 by Robert Rose and Juerg Frefel, Reliable Robotics is headquartered in Mountain View, California. Rose serves as CEO, while Frefel is the company’s Chief Technology Officer. The company develops aircraft automation technology for commercial and defense aviation.
Its core platform, the Reliable Autonomy System (RAS), is designed to automate aircraft operations from taxiing and takeoff through en-route navigation and landing. The system combines navigation, flight controls and automated flight planning, with the aim of integrating autonomous capabilities into existing aircraft and aviation infrastructure.
Reliable Robotics is pursuing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for its autonomy system on the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan. Its development programme also includes Reliable Radar, which supports aircraft detection and automated flight operations.
The company has secured contracts with multiple branches of the US military and completed several military airworthiness review processes with the US Air Force. It has also been selected for the FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program, supporting pre-certification cargo operations in New Mexico and Colorado.
Reliable Robotics plans to use the additional financing to expand its aircraft fleet, increase production capacity and recruit engineers as it progresses towards commercial certification.
Alongside the financing, the company announced new offices in Seattle, Washington, and San Diego, California. Its Seattle location will support development of its radar technology.
The financing follows the company’s initial $160 million Series D announcement in April 2026. Reliable Robotics said it has now raised more than $380 million in cumulative equity capital.
