SereNeuro Therapeutics, a Baltimore-based preclinical biotechnology company developing non-opioid pain therapies, has closed a pre-seed financing round. The amount was not disclosed. The company said the syndicate included two Maryland-based venture firms and a physician investor, without identifying the participants.
The financing will support SereNeuro’s lead program, SN101, as it advances toward Investigational New Drug-enabling activities, as well as the company’s second program, SN102.
Founded in 2024, SereNeuro was co-founded by Daniel Saragnese, Xinzhong Dong, Gabsang Lee and Zhuolun “Poppy” Wang. Saragnese serves as CEO. The company is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland.
SN101 is an iPSC-derived cell therapy being developed for chronic osteoarthritis joint pain. It uses mature peripheral pain-sensing neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem cells. SereNeuro’s second program, SN102, is a gene therapy being developed for trigeminal neuralgia and other neuropathic pain conditions. Both programs remain in preclinical development.
