San Francisco-based construction robotics startup Origin announced $20 million in total funding on October 15, 2026, as it emerged from stealth. The financing was co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures.
Other investors included Unilazer Ventures, Schema Ventures, Z21, ISAI and Imad Ventures, alongside angel investors affiliated with Anduril, Skild AI, 1X and Tesla.
The company plans to use the funding to expand deployment of its flagship robot, OG-1, increase its robot fleet and support customer pilots in the United States and international markets. Additional pilots are planned in Germany, Sweden, France and Saudi Arabia.
Founded in early 2025 by Yogesh Ghaturle, Ashish Daga and Tushar Makkar, Origin develops autonomous robots designed to perform interior construction work. Ghaturle serves as CEO, Makkar leads autonomy development and Daga oversees hardware engineering.
Origin’s OG-1 robot is designed to automate wall-finishing processes, including applying joint compound, sanding and priming. The system uses interchangeable tools and a modular hardware platform intended to support multiple construction trades.
The robot operates on a three-wheeled mobile base, uses a 360-degree view of its surroundings and can perform tasks at heights of up to 14 feet. It also uses real-time force control for tasks requiring consistent contact with surfaces.
OG-1 is powered by Origin’s proprietary Construction Action Model, which combines task planning, autonomous navigation, tool operation and feedback-driven robotic control. The system is trained using simulated environments and data collected from construction sites.
Origin says its robots are already being deployed across commercial properties, multifamily residential buildings, data centres, hotels and warehouses. The company began deploying robots on New York construction sites within its first year of operations.
With the new funding, Origin aims to expand its robots’ capabilities beyond wall finishing to include drywall installation, taping, drilling and conduit installation.
The company is targeting 150 deployed robots by the end of 2027. It also plans to expand manufacturing and support deployments with construction contractors across multiple markets.
