Saudi Arabian fintech startup Vrtx has raised $3.6 million in a pre-seed funding round to develop its embedded finance infrastructure and expand its operations.

The round attracted participation from SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, Sadu Capital, BYLD, Suhail Ventures, F6 Ventures, TAZ Investment and Palm Ventures.

Founded in 2025 by Mishal Bin Slimah and Omar Shaaban, Vrtx is headquartered in Riyadh. The founders previously worked together at Tweeq, a Saudi digital financial services platform acquired by Tabby.

Vrtx is developing an embedded finance platform that allows businesses to integrate financial services into their existing products without building the underlying infrastructure independently.

Its offerings cover digital wallets, payouts, card issuance, transfers and transaction processing. The platform also provides developer tools, software development kits and a sandbox environment where businesses can test integrations before deployment.

Vrtx aims to simplify the technical and operational requirements associated with introducing financial products. Its infrastructure is designed to help businesses manage financial transactions, customer balances and payment workflows through a unified platform.

The company has also received in-principle approval from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) for an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence. The preliminary approval represents a regulatory step toward providing its financial services in Saudi Arabia, rather than a final operating licence.

Vrtx plans to use the new capital to further develop its platform, strengthen its operational capabilities and support its preparations for commercial expansion.
