New York-based cybersecurity startup Asymptote Labs has raised $5.5 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Tower Research Ventures, the venture capital arm of Tower Research Capital. The round also saw participation from Lytical Ventures, 1984 Ventures, and South Park Commons.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its engineering team, accelerate product development, support hiring, and strengthen its go-to-market operations.

Founded in 2025 by Justin D’Souza and Shukan Shah, Asymptote Labs develops runtime monitoring and security infrastructure for enterprise AI agents. D’Souza serves as CEO, while Shah is CTO. Both previously worked at cybersecurity company Doppel, where they developed machine learning and security automation systems.

The company’s technology is built around Beacon, an MIT-licensed open-source telemetry platform that captures and standardizes AI agent activity across different tools and environments. It supports more than 20 agent harnesses, including Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, allowing organizations to monitor agent interactions, commands, file modifications, and other runtime activities through a common data model.

Beacon extends the OpenTelemetry framework to provide organizations with a unified record of agent activity. This infrastructure is designed to help security and engineering teams understand how AI agents operate across enterprise systems.

Asymptote Labs also offers a commercial enterprise platform built on Beacon’s telemetry infrastructure. The platform provides runtime detection, response, and governance capabilities, including policy-based controls intended to identify and prevent risks such as data leakage, insider threats, and unsafe agent actions.

Beacon was launched in May 2026 and is publicly available through GitHub. The company also offers enterprise and private deployment options for organizations seeking additional monitoring, security, and governance capabilities.
